Extended School Closure: In light of the oppressive heatwave and the advisory from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the School Education Department has mandated the closure of all government schools from June 11 to June 15. This directive includes a reprieve for educators, who will also remain on leave until June 15.
School Shutdown Announcement: A wave of relief washes over students in Bihar as the School Education Department once again decrees a five-day suspension of school activities due to the blistering temperatures and pervasive heatwave. Initially, a reopening was slated for June 10, but escalating temperatures and concerns for student welfare prompted the issuance of a revised directive.
Closure Duration: June 11 to June 15
On Monday, Sunny Sinha, Director of Secondary Education, promulgated the closure order. The IMD’s forecast predicts persistent heatwave conditions across several regions of the state until June 14, necessitating the extension of the school holiday from June 11 to 15. During this interval, both students and teachers will be on leave.
Prior Directives
Previously, on June 7, the School Education Department announced that schools would reopen on June 10, with revised hours from 6:30 am to 11:30 am, followed by the distribution of the mid-day meal from 11:30 am to 12:10 pm.
Summer Schedule Adjustments
For the period from June 10 to June 30, all educational institutions, including primary, middle, secondary, higher secondary, Sanskrit schools, and madrasas, were to follow this timetable. Regular academic sessions were scheduled for students from classes 9 to 12, with provisions for sports, painting, and other creative pursuits for those not involved in Mission Daksh. However, these plans have been superseded by the new order.
